FOUR WINNS GOES TO THE FAROES!

FOUR WINNS August 14th 2016 FAROE ISLANDS
So the very big male basking shark that we nick-named FOUR WINNS for the boat that kindly pointed him out to us, has popped up near the Faroe Islands. We tagged him on the 9th of June, 3km West of Niarbyl, in Manx waters. The next day his satellite tag told us that he was a little further North about 12km off Orrisdale on the Isle of Man. We didn’t hear from him again until the 14th of August when he popped up very briefly just South of the Faroe Islands, having travelled nearly 800km as the crow flies. This is very exciting as this is the first tagged basking shark that we have had go so far North from Manx waters. Not the safest place for a large marine creature to be though! Stay safe FOUR WINNS!
