Environment Details
Dead calm air and sea, heavy plankton, tide ebbing north (towards Contrary Head). No other boats around, one had been stationary just before we arrived.

Appears to show the remains of a tag on the back of the dorsal fin, low down? Hi Dermot. Jackie Hall here. I can see what you mean but I think that this is a parasitic copepod. See this rather extreme example of a species that lives on the eye of the Greenland shark! http://extrememarine.org.uk/2017/10/something-in-your-eye/

Lamprey marks on the shark's back. This is the second of three sharks in the same area.
